Richard Adusu, born 1983 in Accra, Ghana, is a contemporary artist and a musician based around the shores of Accra the city of Ghana. He is a Diploma holder from The Ghanatta College of Arts and Designs as a professional painter and a textile designer.
Through many years of being pragmatic and experimental, Adusu was able to unearth his own unique style and voice in the art fraternity. Adusu’s style was inspired by the spontaneous patterns of the military camouflage on a black undertone which is his subjective representation of his African descent.
The tactile and highly textured impressions of his figures symbolize the algorithm of life’s struggles and experiences, the peaks and troughs which forms our identity. By the use of frazzled brushes, oils or acrylics mixed with modeling paste, Adusu embellishes his canvases with true stories of the people around his vicinity and the African diaspora.
Richard Adusu sporadically infuses landscapes at the foregrounds which subjectively serve as mnemonics for his childhood memories. He creates impressions that captures the pure energy, the honesty, and the intensity of his subjects with power rippling through their bodies kinetically.
