ARTISTMawuku Arkutu

The language of Mawuko’s work is vast. It employs both the language of African symbology and colour theory. With each stroke he recalls mythological worlds in a contemporary fashion. Animating the African mask heads as both a political and intellectual statement on cultural shifts. A major theme in his work is the rule of law, karmic forces, rebirth and renewal.

Tapping into the philosophical and the performative; obsessively with colour as his main character. Each painting is a unique opportunity to experiment with this signature language.

Freely contextualizing the abstract in a realm of spirituality. As a man of faith his approach to life is with dedication, patience and sincerity. Each artwork brings him in closer communion with the divine.
